Bridging Divides Travel Grants for TMU Scholars

Description
Bridging Divides (BD) Travel Grants provide researchers and highly qualified personnel (HQP) currently working on BD research projects at Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU), with travel funds for research.
Travel can be for the purpose of data collection or participation in conferences, workshops, or symposiums related to Bridging Divides research.
There will be two competitions per academic year:
- Applications for the Fall competition are due October 30, 2024
- Applications for the Spring competition are due May 8, 2025
Funding will be awarded to eligible researchers, affiliated researchers and HQP who will have an active or significant role in the proposed travel. For example, applicants could be conducting fieldwork or they could be acting as a speaker, chair, discussant, or presenter at a conference or workshop.

Applicants must submit the completed application by 11:59PM on the deadline date. |
Applicants needing help while preparing their application should communicate with the BD team bridging.divides@torontomu.ca well in advance of the application deadline. BD will make competition results available to successful and unsuccessful applicants via email.
Merit Review
Applications are reviewed, and available funds awarded, through a competitive merit review process. BD bases funding decisions on the relevance of the proposed travel to further the objectives of the BD research program. The proposals will be adjudicated by the Scientific Director, Scientific Co-Director and Executive Director. The adjudication committee discussions and recommendations will be guided by the principle of minimum essential funding.
Post-travel Monitoring and Reporting
Applicants will be expected to report on the use of grant funds, on funded activities undertaken during the funding period and on outcomes. Please provide a one page outline of the activities undertaken during the trip including the outcome of the trip, how the travel experience will enrich their research, personal learning, team learning, career, and add any other comments you deem pertinent within one week after the event to bridging.divides@torontomu.ca. Please note that reporting is mandatory. Bridging Divides will not consider future travel applications from individuals with outstanding reports.
