Event Risk Assessments

Two TMU Security guards walk with two students along Nelson Mandela Walk.

Hundreds of events are planned each year by staff, faculty and students. We have designed a few risk assessment forms to help capture information on your events and to ensure that the staff, faculty and students organizing and attending the events are safe and successful.

Events organized by a student

If you are a student and would like to organize an event you must follow the current event planning process. Staff from all departments affiliated with the event management process will review the form and help to make your event the safest it can be. Here is the process:

  1. Book your on-campus space.
  2. Fill out the online Student Event Management Form at least 7 days in advance of your event date.
  3. Log in and respond to the comments of any reviewers and check the status of your event.
  4. Once your event is approved by all departments, you can proceed with the event.

Any questions, please contact Andrew Bisnauth, Orientation and Events Specialist at abisnaut@torontomu.ca.

Events organized by an employee

If you are a staff or faculty member organizing an event who is planning an event that will be affiliated with Toronto Metropolitan University (either on or off campus), you must follow the current event planning process. Staff from all departments affiliated with the event management process and from Community Safety and Security will review the form and help to make your event the safest it can be. Here is the process:

  1. Book your on-campus space.
  2. Contact security@torontomu.ca and provide details of your event so we can support you.
  3. Be on the lookout for follow up correspondence from a member of our department who may ask for more information to assess the event.
  4. Once your event is approved by all departments, you can proceed.
