Study abroad programs
The School of Child and Youth Care (CYC) currently has two formal study abroad programs, one in partnership with Fontys University (external link) in the Netherlands and the other in partnership with the University of Trier (external link) .
CYC students in their second or third year are encouraged to apply to these programs. Each program offers up to three courses, taught in English. Courses are typically offered during the summer semester in Europe, which runs from late April to the middle of July.
These programs are OSAP eligible so long as a student completes all three courses. Once completed, the courses are then counted as either Professionally-Related Table 1 or Professional Group 2 courses, however, the grades do not form part of the cumulative GPA.
Participation in either of these study abroad programs requires students to register and pay tuition for the spring/summer semester at TMU, but students will not have to pay additional registration fees to the partner institutions. Additional costs are involved for accommodation and living expenses. Some funding through the school and through TMU Global is available to offset the costs.
Information sessions about these opportunities are held each year in October, so please look out for the announcement of upcoming sessions.
