The CERC will build a rich, innovative, scholarly and policy transformative  research program across a set of four core themes that are locally relevant, and culturally appropriate  and responsive to Canada’s multicultural settler context: Social Determinants of Health and  Community Wellbeing, Health Equity and Accessibility, Indigenous Health and Disability and, Digital Health Technology and Methods.

The overarching aim is to ensure that the research objectives can be scaled for population impact and outcomes, nationally and globally, and links back to global health policy agendas that situate the social determinants of health and wellbeing as cornerstones of transformative health systems, infrastructure, design and delivery. Underpinning the four research streams are the principles of:

  1. Continuous community engagement;
  2. Health focused communication;
  3. IDEA

These are  embedded in all aspects of project design, implementation and outcomes stemming from the HECW  research program with the aim to increase social impact of the research outcomes
