Peer evaluation can be an incredible learning tool for the class. In this session, we will discuss approaches for incorporating peer evaluation into your course activities, and demonstrate the features of an online peer evaluation tool that we have added to D2L Brightspace, peerScholar. peerScholar allows instructors to set up individual, group or case study assignment submissions for students to peer review.

Working with a diverse student body that includes students with disabilities requires instructors to use innovative and creative teaching methods to ensure the inclusion and engagement of all students, especially in a remote teaching environment. In this workshop, we will look at common accommodations at Toronto Metropolitan University and discuss efficient and effective strategies to not only assist students with disabilities, but also create an accessible online experience for all students.

This was a Small Talk Encore Presentation
In this Small Talk, the focus is on one of the most popular teaching tools: the slide deck. We’ll discuss the differences between using a slide deck in person vs. online, and present practical, simple approaches to providing course materials to your students online. Participants will have the opportunity to tweak and share their own slide decks if they wish. All sessions also include a Q and A based on the topic.

On June 03, 2020, the The Creative School and the Centre for Excellence in Learning & Teaching presented a panel discussion on studio teaching in a virtual environment. Faculty members from FCAD and the Faculty of Engineering and Architectural Science shared their experiences with studio teaching online. They were also joined by a workshop technologist and a current student who shared their valuable perspectives on the transition to remote teaching.
