Capstone Awards
The Faculty of Engineering and Architectural Science pushes the boundaries of engineering and architectural design, fostering a culture where curiosity drives groundbreaking discoveries. Our goal is to empower fourth-year students to take risks, explore new ideas, and create solutions that address the challenges of tomorrow.
The Capstone Awards celebrate the exceptional innovation and dedication demonstrated by our students in their final-year capstone projects. These awards recognize the remarkable contributions our students make through their creativity and commitment to excellence in engineering and architectural science.
Social Impact Award
The Social Impact Award is presented to a team that develops an innovative solution addressing a real societal challenge. This award recognizes projects that demonstrate the potential for positive impact on communities or industries, showcasing the students' ability to apply their skills to solve critical real-world problems.
Criteria for evaluation
- Creative problem solving (evidence of out-of-the-box thinking to overcome challenges and constraints)
- Degree of impact
- Technical feasibility
- Ethical and social considerations
Innovation Award
The Innovation Award is presented to the team of final-year students who exhibit a novel and unique, and new technology. The Innovation Award is presented to a team of final-year students who demonstrate a groundbreaking application of technology or the creation of a truly unique and innovative technological solution.
Criteria for evaluation
- Technical merit and feasibility
- Real world impact
- Creative problem solving (evidence of out-of-the-box thinking in overcoming challenges or constraints)
- Novelty
