Established in January 1986, the Office of Research Services provides administrative support and services to faculty for their SRC activities. The mission of ORS is:
- To promote, encourage, and support scholarly, research and creative activities (SRC) among Ryerson faculty, students, and staff;
- To administer and contribute to the development of Ryerson SRC policy;
- To provide a University-wide focus and central administration for SRC;
- To provide a single point of contact for the granting councils and other research funding sources including government industry, and foundations;
- To promote Ryerson SRC capabilities externally; and
- To assist faculty in the transfer of new intellectual property from the lab to receptor groups in the private and public sector.
ORS Staff Members:
- Identify funding sources and research opportunities for Ryerson faculty;
- Publicize opportunities and research-related events to the Ryerson research community;
- Liaise with funding agencies on behalf of Ryerson researchers;
- Assist in the development, submission and tracking of grant proposals and contracts;
- Negotiate agreements in conjunction with the principal investigator;
- Ensure ethical considerations are addressed and certification provided as required;
- Establish and administer research accounts, providing direct assistance to faculty in structuring budgets and managing research accounts;
- Assist faculty in ensuring compliance with university and sponsor requirements; and
- Compile university research reports.
