RYERSON STUDENTS' UNION (RSU)

The Ryerson Students' Union (RSU) is the central Students’ Union for Ryerson’s full-time and graduate students. Its purpose is threefold, to build a strong campus community through campus groups and events, to advocate on behalf of its members, and to save students money through cost saving services.

The RSU also represents the collective voice of students for both on and off campus issues as a member of the Canadian Federation of Students (CFS), they are Local 24. All Ryerson full-time and graduate students are not only members of the RSU, but are also members of the CFS, united provincially and nationally with more than  - 600,000 students at colleges and universities from coast to coast.

The RSU Board of Directors formulates the organization's policies and establishes its direction.  This Board is comprised of representatives from each faculty and a five person Executive including: a President, Vice President-Education, Vice-President Equity, Vice President-Operations and Vice President-Student Life & Events.  Positions are elected annually during the Winter term by the membership. The Executive is responsible for implementing the Board’s direction, and managing day to day operations of the RSU. The RSU is strongly supported by a full-time staff team who ensure that students’ needs are being met. About 50 part-time student staff also assist in the RSU's service centres and main office.

Each member of the RSU pays a levy to the RSU which collectively makes up the operating budget for the RSU. The budget supports a wide range of free or self-sustaining services and events for students. The RSU also funds over 80 campus groups, student clubs, cultural and religious groups, course unions, and graduate students' associations.

Through the RSU, students are working together to build a better campus.  As a full-time or graduate student, you are a member of this Students’ Union - get involved today!  Find out more about RSU services, groups and volunteer opportunities by visiting the office, or visiting online at www.rsuonline.ca

Student Campus Centre

The Student Campus Centre, at 55 Gould Street is a focal point for student life at Ryerson. Located on the corner of Church and Gould Streets, the Student Campus Centre is home to many of the RSU’s services and activities, as well as the student-run Oakham Cafe and Ram in the Rye Pub.

RSU Events

The RSU organizes amazing social and academic events throughout the school year for Ryerson students. All Ryerson students are encouraged to join in! The Multicultural show, RSU's Equity conference, Open Mic nights and special annual events like the Parade and Picnic are just a few of the many events presented by the Students' Union.  Campus events get students out to socialize, meet new people and try new things.  The RSU strives to make events accessible, free and all-ages to ensure there is something for everyone. For up to date event listings see www.rsuonline.ca/events

RSU Committees

There are four RSU Committees that are open for all members:

The Equity Issues Committee uses anti-oppression strategies to build a more equitable campus that is free of discrimination.

The Educational Issues committee organizes campaigns and lobbying efforts around post-secondary access, funding and academic issues.

The Evens and Entertainment  committee helps to create exciting events on campus ranging from pub nights to live concerts and panel discussions.

The Sustainability Committee engages the university committee on environmental issues and food security.
