English Language Support (ELS) provides non-credit programs to Ryerson students whose first language of academic study is not English. Programs include:
Paper Partners: This program offers individual help with students' written assignments.
Conversation Partners: Practice and improve English conversation and pronunciation with a member of the ELS student staff.
English Communication Support
(ECS) classes: Practical, task-based academic speaking skills development.
Conversational Connections: Provides an opportunity to practice conversational English, as well as an exchange of cultural ideas and an appreciation of intergenerational differences with volunteers from Ryerson Seniors' Education Programs.
Language Lab: Use up-to-date computer software to improve pronunciation and listening skills.
Presentation Practice Lab: Individualized sessions aimed at improving presentation skills - practice a presentation and receive meaningful feedback. Available to all Ryerson students.
Online Resources: Self-help modules and links to overcome specific language problems.
Distance Learning: Many of our ELS programs are available online through Blackboard.
