President’s National Entrance Scholarships - Awarded to high school graduates (Canadian citizenship/permanent resident status required) who demonstrate academic accomplishment, leadership qualities, original thought and creative ability. Valued at $10,000, four to six scholarships are awarded annually and are renewable. By application only. Deadline: April 1st.
Terence Grier Entrance Scholarship - Awarded to a high school graduate (Canadian citizenship/permanent resident status required) who demonstrates academic accomplishment and exceptional aptitude for, or interest in, the chosen field of study at Ryerson. Valued at one year’s tuition. By application only. Deadline: April 1st.
H. Graham Walker Awards - Awarded to current Ontario high school graduates who demonstrate academic excellence (85 percent in six Grade 12 U/M courses), involvement in extracurricular activities in high school or volunteer work and financial need. Valued at $2,500, four scholarships are awarded annually. By application only. Deadline: August 1st.
John Brooks Community Foundation Scholarship - Awarded to high school graduates who demonstrate academic accomplishment (80 percent in six Grade 12 U/M courses), involvement in school, community, self-development programs and other activities. Valued at $1,500, two scholarships are awarded annually. By application only. Deadline: Mid-July.
University Entrance Scholarships - Awarded to current Ontario high school students who have demonstrated academic excellence in U/M studies. Minimum average for consideration is 80 percent in six Grade 12 U/M courses. Values range from $1,000 to $4,000, depending on academic program. Scholarships are either guaranteed or competitive. No applications are required.
Unless otherwise specified in writing, to be eligible for University Entrance Scholarships, students are required to:
- Be a current full-time Ontario Grade 12 U/M Secondary School applicant, who is a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident who will start a four-year undergraduate degree program at Ryerson in the Fall, and who is enrolling in a post-secondary institution for the first time;
- A separate scholarship application is not required, however you must have an active application to a full-time undergraduate four-year degree program at Ryerson via the Ontario Universities Application Centre (OUAC) 101 Application process by May 2nd;
- Be enrolled in a minimum of four U/M courses within the current Fall-Winter school year and must be enrolled in a post-secondary institution for the first time;
- Scholarship averages are based on courses taken during the regular school year (Fall and Winter terms). Students must present a minimum average of 80 percent in best six Grade 12 U/M courses (mid-term and/or final). If the student is not qualified for a Guaranteed Scholarship based on grades available mid-May, student will be automatically reconsidered, as final grades become available (grades must be reported to the OUAC by July 31st). Grade adjustments/corrections received after July 31st cannot be used for scholarship purposes. Scholarship calculations are based on two decimal points and are not rounded;
- Grade 12 U/M courses with credit values of less than 1.00 are not eligible for scholarship consideration;
- The 'out-of-school' component of Grade 12 U/M co-op courses (or equivalent) is not eligible for scholarship consideration;
- A maximum of one repeat grade will be used to calculate the student's scholarship average;
- The entrance scholarship is not transferable between programs and is only valid for the academic year in which it is offered.
Official notification of an Entrance Scholarship offer is subject to the terms and conditions included with the specific scholarship offer. It is the student's responsibility to comply with the terms and conditions of the scholarship and to request the information if not received.
The Director of Undergraduate Admissions and Recruitment will only make exceptions to these policies in writing. Exceptions, if made, must be specifically for scholarship purposes and are not to be confused with exceptions for general admission purposes.
Appeals in scholarship consideration must be made in writing to the Director of Undergraduate Admissions and Recruitment, and received by August 15th of the year of enrollment.
General Scholarships - Awarded to students currently attending secondary school in a province other than Ontario, or those attending an international out-of-country high school taking a minimum of three full-year courses within the current academic year, or to individuals not currently in high school or in post-secondary studies; based on academic excellence and personal motivation to study at Ryerson University. Valued at $1,000, up to 50 scholarships may be awarded annually. Deadline: May 30th.
Industry-Sponsored Entrance Scholarships - Targeted to specific programs with varying values. Normally, eligible students are notified of scholarship availability and application procedures following acceptance or enrollment in the program.
International Student Merit Scholarships - Awarded to students currently enrolled in an Ontario secondary school with Study Permit authorization, who have applied to Ryerson via the Ontario Universities' Application Centre (OUAC) 101 Application process by May 2nd, and have a minimum average of 80 percent in their best six Grade 12 U/M courses by May 30th, or enrolled in their final year of a school outside of Ontario and will be entering Canada to study at Ryerson with Study Permit authorization, and have first-class standing in their country's equivalent of the Ontario Grade 12 U program. Valued at $1,000, up to 35 scholarships may be awarded annually. No applications are required.
