The School of Occupational and Public Health offers an optional co-operative education component in each of its two options:
Occupational Health and Safety
Public Health and Safety
Co-operative education serves to integrate academic studies with career-related work experience with companies and agencies who are involved in both the specific and broader health issues related to the public at large and to those in the work place.
The co-operative education option includes a total of 20 months of work experience in five four-month placements. Aside from the valuable work experience, co-op gives students the opportunity to earn competitive salaries that partially offset the cost of their education, to help clarify career objectives, and to improve their opportunities for full-time employment upon graduation. The successful completion of four work terms is required in order to graduate with the co-operative education designation in the BASc (Co-operative Education) degree.
Students in the second year of the academic program will be offered the opportunity to apply for the co-operative education program. Admission into the co-op option requires that a student have a GPA of 2.50 and a CLEAR Standing.
