The program includes an optional co-operative education program which provides students with 20 months of work experience integrated into their academic program.
Students wishing to be considered for this program should indicate their interest when applying to enter the program in first year, and then must apply for admission into the co-op program in the first semester of Year 2 (third semester). Admission into the co-op is based on a minimum CGPA of 3.00 (students with a CGPA of at least 2.80 may apply and may be considered for admission if there are places in the program). Evidence of superior oral and written communication skills, and a simulated employment interview to assess employability is required.
Students must successfully complete five work terms to graduate. In exceptional circumstances and with permission of the School, students may be allowed to graduate with the co-op endorsement with fewer than five completed work terms. Each work term is assessed by the Co-op Director on the basis of the student’s comprehensive written report and the employer’s evaluation of the student’s performance on the job.
