  • BIPOC in Film

During my studies I have produced and directed films. The film I produced in 2021, "Counterfeit", was selected by the Toronto International Film Festival's Next Wave Program. The most recent film that I wrote and directed, "Pimenta", won the BIPOC in Film Award at the Image Arts Film Festival.

What does it mean to be a Black TMU grad?

It is a significant accomplishment to be a Black grad. The systemic racism ingrained in our current education system often aims for us to fail. Despite the barriers we have faced in academia, we have not just risen to the occasion, but in fact, surpassed the expectations placed upon us.

What advice do you have for other Black students at TMU?

Do not allow the narratives conjured by others impact your self-image or understanding of what you can accomplish or who can be.
