Maryama is a proud Somali Muslimah,a cat-lover, true-crime podcast listener and an avid reader. She is graduating in community services collaborative nursing with a minor in psychology. Maryama was recognized on the Dean's List each year of her program. She will be starting her first registered nurse position at SickKids hospital this summer.

What does it mean to be a Black TMU grad?
To me, it means bringing representation to the academic and professional fields. It means being a part of a like-minded community of people with similar and shared experiences.
What advice do you have for other Black students at TMU?
Stay true to yourself. Whatever you do, wherever life takes you, stay grounded in who you are as a person.
