Maryam Umeya

Maryam was a student in the faculty of community services' social work program, where she had the opportunity to enhance her knowledge in regard to structural inequities within the human service sector, amongst other injustices. She is also a dean's list recipient of 2019-2021. Maryam is graduating from the social work program with distinction, and a minor in psychology and a minor in family supports and community practice.

What do you plan to do after you graduate?
I plan on pursuing a professional graduate program.
What advice do you have for other Black Ryerson students?
Always believe in yourself. If ever you start to feel discouraged, remember that if you made it into university, you definitely have what it takes to finish successfully!
