Kadeem Brown

Kadeem Brown

I was born in Toronto, Canada, and my parents are both immigrants from Kingston, Jamaica. I self-identify as an Afro-Caribbean Canadian, and I’m currently on a journey of exploring my connectedness to my country of origin and experiences as a Black Canadian man.

Accolades and awards

  • FCS Undergraduate Black Student Award

What does it mean to be a Black Ryerson grad?

Being a Black Ryerson graduate is a substantial accomplishment because it allowed me to align my professional and academic experience. Using my lived experience and now my academic experience allows me to contribute to bridging academia and practice together.

What do you plan to do after you graduate?

I will be attending the University of Toronto to start another academic journey by doing my masters of social work.

What advice do you have for other Black Ryerson students?

My advice is to continue being you and continue being genuine as you travel through your academic journey, while always valuing your lived experience and using such experience to continue to break barriers.
