Stain’ - BIG little fibre FIBRE Exhibition
The Gladstone Hotel
October 11 to
November 25, 2007

The ideas behind this work explore the preoccupation with hygiene and stained fabrics. The micro- photography of various stains on cotton demonstrates what happens to fibers when they come in contact with various substances such as coffee, mustard, ketchup, water and dirt. The overall intention is to display ‘stains’ as part of the life of fabrics and fibres rather than something to be avoided and cleaned at the expense of the environment with dry-cleaning and stain removers.
