Ryerson Venture Zone in Brampton welcomes 14 new startups into its incubator program

BRAMPTON - The Ryerson Venture Zone in Brampton (RVZ) has welcomed its new class of entrepreneurs into their incubator program. The startups are part of RVZ Launch, an 8-month, non-equity based incubator program that prepares companies to launch in-market. 

RVZ Launch, whose focus was on health and wellness in 2021, has expanded into a second sector and will also support startups working in smart cities, logistics and mobility in 2022. The startups joining the incubator are poised to address hyper-local issues in the Peel Region, particularly the city of Brampton. Areas of focus include: driver retention, smart city infrastructure, supply chain management, mobility of goods & services, managing health & safety of SML employees and electric vehicles & infrastructure.

“The timing couldn’t be better to support this new group of innovative startups as they navigate real-time issues with supply management and mobility,” said Usha Srinivasan, director of the RVZ. “Through the RVZ, these entrepreneurs will not only offer cutting edge solutions to the Peel Region, but will be in a position to hire local talent and positively impact the community and businesses in  the city of Brampton."

RVZ Launch participants will receive access to over 50 industry and community partners for early market validation as well as opportunities to secure potential pilots in their sectors. Founders will also go through venture development workshops and receive integrated mentorship that supports their in-market launch. 

This year, the RVZ is providing up to $300,000 in non-dilutive funding to its participants. 

The current RVZ Launch startups are: 

1. Bryskit (external link) : A technology company that provides businesses with on-demand delivery capacity.
2. Transpots (external link) : Offers affordable solutions to seamlessly manage the most challenging parts of trucking operations.
3. Bluicity (external link) : Guarantees data collection in and between massive scale locations (ports, warehouses etc.) and during transportation.
4. Ecosystems Informatics Inc. (external link) : An air quality monitoring and management solution, including improving environmental impact and operational efficiencies.
5. Parsedata (external link) : A technology platform for cities that provides citizens a path to de-carbonization through the electrification of transport.
6. Preparie (external link, opens in new window) : Empowers people to cook and share their recipes with the rest of the world.
7. Pumpkin Kart (external link) : An ethnic food and grocery delivery service
8. Reindeere (external link, opens in new window) : An on-demand robotic delivery service.
9. Scooty (external link) : The GTA’s first public-facing e-Scooter/e-Bike sharing service.
10. EmergConnect (external link) : The first ever centralized digital platform for patient registration, clinical triage, and individualized wait time predictions.
11. FirstScreen (external link) : A customizable employee health screening solution that protects private health information.
12. Savyn (external link) : An inclusive digital mental health platform to heal trauma using innovative therapies.
13. SnapSmile (external link) : Helps dentists provide personalized patient engagement.
14. Tenomix (external link) : Develops novel technologies to automate the clinical investigation of colorectal cancer tissues.

The RVZ joined Ryerson’s prestigious Zone Learning network in 2020. Nine companies graduated from their incubator program in 2021. These health and wellness startups have all doubled or tripled their number of employees, revenues, capital raised and pilots completed since they participated in the inaugural group.
