What to Expect at TZ

September 17, 2024

We’re happy to announce a series of dynamic programs designed to empower our students and budding entrepreneurs. These initiatives will provide the tools, mentorship, and resources they need to not only navigate the current landscape but to redefine it.

From hands-on workshops with industry leaders to invaluable resources for launching your own projects, we are committed to turning challenges into change.

Secret Knowledge Sessions

Leader of the Transmedia Zone, Dan Speerin chats with our guest and takes student questions in an hour of helpful and practical advice!

Past sessions have included learning about journalism from Buzzfeed journalists, how to run and best navigate a festival from Hot Docs, how a writers room works from a tv writer who has worked on shows for CBC, CTV and Netflix. And how to launch an indie film from napkin to release.

Story Solves

We will also be bringing back story solves, sessions that are specifically for solving your problems on Storytelling. Whether that’s traditional storytelling or business branding.

We find that many entrepreneurs have incredible products and services but can't seem to get the sell! This is where we can come in. We can show you how to tell the story of your product and YOU as the company or founder.

Funding Fundamentals

Our new ongoing workshop series is tailored to support creatives in effectively managing the financial aspects of their professional endeavors. This program provides in-depth instruction on key topics such as tax management, grant writing, and the art of pitching for competitive pitch prizes. Participants will gain practical skills and knowledge to navigate these complex areas, ensuring they are well-prepared to secure funding and financial support for their creative projects.

Hivemind

Hiveminds are our weekly community chats where students, founders, and TZ staff get together to discuss the topic of the week. Topics can be anything from tips and tricks on productivity to deeper issues like the use of AI in creative industries
