After four successful cohorts, The Legal Innovation Zone (LIZ) at Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) is now accepting applications for their fifth cohort of Concept Framework. Running from March 28th to May 9th, this program helps aspiring entrepreneurs in the legal tech industry turn their ideas into proof of concept.

Concept Framework is a free six-week, part-time, interactive program that invites legal innovators, nationally and internationally, to explore what it takes to build a legal tech company. Through engaging, interactive content and ongoing mentorship, entrepreneurs are challenged to put their ideas to the test.

Participants will get the opportunity to validate their concept, develop key messaging, and understand their customer base. They will also get the opportunity to do some prototyping, creating a Minimum Viable Design, begin creating a sustainable business model and develop an execution strategy to set them and their business up for success.

Since launching the first cohort in 2019, Concept Framework has helped advance and develop fifty-two legal tech startups from over thirteen countries. “One of the most intimidating parts of starting a successful business is taking your theoretical idea out of your mind and into reality,” says Hersh Perlis, Director of the LIZ. “Concept Framework is a program to help aspiring entrepreneurs do just that. Through ongoing mentorship, expert guidance, and engaging online content, Concept Framework gives legal tech entrepreneurs a better idea how to turn their ideas into a business.”
