Dr. Sasha Saunders

Dr. Sasha Saunders is the Director of the Legal Innovation Zone (LIZ) at Toronto Metropolitan University. 

Sasha brings ten years of experience working in entrepreneurial education and venture creation support in Scotland. She joins the LIZ from the University of Stirling where she was most recently Head of Enterprise and responsible for the strategic development and management of its "Enterprise Programme" – an institution-wide startup service.  Under Sasha's leadership, the service area and team scaled to support students, staff, alumni, community members and local secondary schools.  She also worked to advance EDI and embed pillars of responsible business creation into programming and processes. 

Sasha holds a BA, an LLB in Scots Law, an MSc in International HRM and a PhD which explored appearance management in the careers of women lawyers.  Originally from Toronto, she is thrilled to return to her hometown and support the creation of better legal solutions.

Outside of work, Sasha enjoys rowing, ballet and baked goods. She and her husband look forward to getting reacquainted with the waters of Lake Ontario!
