December 9, 2022 - The Fashion Zone’s Fall Networking Night invited members and TMU students to explore the Creative Innovation Studio, meet teams and advisors, and explore potential opportunities for collaboration. This panel of FZ alumni discussed and shared their experiences in business to inspire the next generation of entrepreneurs.

networking event highlights

Hosted by the Fashion Zone, this networking event welcomed current members and the TMU community to network with other teams, advisors, EiRs, and alumni. The event showcased the Fashion Zone as the go-to hub for aspiring fashion entrepreneurs, including a gallery of garments from Fashion Zone designers, a tour of the space, and the opportunity for attendees to meet current teams and advisors. The event was held at the Creative Innovation Studio HQ, and received a resounding positive response from attendees.

panel discussion

The evening included a panel from Fashion Zone alumni Braden Handley (external link)  from Ink Box (external link) , Wendy Wong (external link)  from June Adaptive (external link) , and Michelle Shemilt (external link)  from NUMI (external link) ! Moderated by our Startup Experience Coordinator, Steph Sim (external link) , the speakers shared their stories through entrepreneurship, their learning curves and challenges of building a business, and the unexpected ways each of them arrived to where they are today.

The panel was then followed by short tours of the Creative Innovation Studio space, where attendees were introduced to the services Fashion Zone can provide along with the different spaces and equipment for members. Refreshments were provided by the sponsors, and the attendees enjoyed a whole night of networking. The Fashion Zone worked hard to organize the event, and it was an overwhelming success!

“Here at the Fashion Zone we’re focused on delivering events that not only share invaluable knowledge, but also generate Community. The networking event saw attendance from Students, Faculty, FZ/TMU Alumni and Industry Professionals and is a perfect example of the type of events we aim to host.”  - FZ Manager, Brian A. Richards
