Marmco Makes Waves with Their Touring Exhibit 'Three Dimensions'
Collaborative duo Jennifer Marman and Daniel Borins, are reshaping the boundaries of contemporary art with their touring exhibition, Three Dimensions. Currently on view at the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia (external link) (November 2024 – January 2025), this ambitious project blends painting, sculpture, kinetics, and virtual reality (VR) into bold installations that challenge audiences to think about the digital age, participation, and the role of the artist and viewer. As members of the Design Fabrication Zone’s Experimental Track, Marman and Borins embrace collaborative experimentation and innovative approaches to art-making, often integrating digital fabrication with traditional techniques to produce their work.

Jennifer Marman and Daniel Borins have been making large-format sculpture, mixed media, installation and media art together in Toronto since 2000.
Marman and Borins' work is in the collection of the National Gallery of Canada, The Art Gallery of Ontario, and the Art Gallery of Hamilton. 'Three Dimensions' offers an immersive experience that explores themes of viewer participation, authenticity, and the relationship between art and technology.
Featured works include Balancing Act, a life-sized claw crane game where visitors manipulate sculptural elements to create dynamic compositions; THX2020, a bio-feedback-driven installation inspired by the dystopian classic THX 1138, delving into themes of pharmaceutical control and the power of suggestion; and ABCD, an AI-themed VR experience raising the subject of the intersection of simulation and reality.
