SugaCayne Designs

SugaCayne Designs takes traditional Carnival costume design into the 21st century.  Innovative designs are brought to life using creative technologies such as 3D printing, laser cutting, and thermoplastic modelling.  SugaCayne Designs founders Dwayne and Candice Dixon explore advanced digital fabrication techniques in costume making while maintaining artistic and cultural integrity. Over the past three years, working with Ryerson students and our DFZ technicians Lily, Naveed and Andrew, they have advanced the art of Carnival costumes by creating the world’s first 3D-printed and laser-cut costumes, first as Chrysalis in 2017, as Inkwell in 2018, and as Liquid Courage in 2019.
