Urban Water TMU engaging students in TRCA's Bolton Camp
Initiated and co-led by Urban Water TMU Advisory Board member Sheila Boudreau, the Urban Water TMU Office contributed to a successful award from the Canadian Landscape Architecture Foundation for a project called: ‘Including the Voice of Indigenous Youth in Green Infrastructure’, now named ‘Nikibii Dawadinna Giigwag’, meaning ‘Flooded Valley Healing’in Anishinaabemowin (Manitoulin dialect)
The project engaged Toronto Indigenous youth from different high schools to participate in green infrastructure activities, primarily at Bolton Camp (Toronto and Region Conservation Authority), and the Daniels Faculty of Architecture, Landscape and Design (University of Toronto). This work involved reimagining Bolton Camp to include a conceptual design for an Elder/ Indigenous teachings cabin and landscape, which the 2019 program will progress to detailed design.
