You're invited: Summer Open Farm at the DCC rooftop
To: Urban Farm partners
This summer, the Urban Farm is inviting students, faculty and staff to bring their lunch to the DCC rooftop farm to unwind and take in breathtaking views of the Toronto skyline as part of the Summer Open Farm program.
Located on the 8th floor of the Daphne Cockwell Health Sciences Complex (DCC), the rooftop farm will be open to community members from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesdays between July 12 and August 30, 2023.
Take a little Urban Farm home with you

During each Summer Open Farm, visitors are invited to purchase fresh produce, flowers and iced tea from our pop-up farm stand, all made from ingredients grown right here on campus.
This month, we’re participating in TMU’s Plastic-Free July Challenge and encourage you to bring reusable bags and beverage containers when purchasing from the farm stand to help us reduce our use of single-use plastics.
About the DCC rooftop farm

Opened in 2022, the DCC rooftop farm is Toronto’s first purpose-built rooftop farm dedicated to Indigenous and Black food sovereignty.

The rooftop is home to the Indigenous Foodways program, which promotes Indigenous wisdom and traditional agricultural practices and grows culturally significant crops and medicines, including the Three Sisters and Four Sacred Plants.

The DCC also houses the Harvest Collective and Learning Circle–a Black Food Sovereignty initiative designed to engage Black students, faculty, staff and the broader community through Black-centric programming, training and cultivation, including the sharing of produce and medicines significant to the African diaspora.
Access the DCC rooftop
Visitors may access the DCC rooftop by taking the elevator to the 8th floor interior lobby and entering the farm via the doors to the right of the elevator.
