Toronto Metropolitan University is now offering Digital OneCards on iPhone, Apple Watch, and Android Phones
Toronto Metropolitan University and Transact are pleased to announce that students can now add their OneCard to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet. This allows them to use their iPhones, Apple Watches, or Android phones to conveniently, safely, and securely access campus buildings, purchase meals, and more.
With mobile IDs, students can complete any action that would have previously required a physical ID card — both on and off campus — with just their iPhone, Apple Watch, or Android phone. Students simply place their device near a reader to enter residences, libraries, and gymnasiums, use campus eateries, make purchases at the campus store, pay for laundry, print documents, and more.
“We are proud to partner with Transact in rolling out mobile credentials to our campus community. Having the OneCard go digital will elevate the student experience by offering a more convenient, efficient and secure campus card solution."
-Evan McCabe, Manager, Toronto Metropolitan University OneCard Office.
Students can also enable Express Mode for their Apple devices, or Fast Mode for their Android devices, which allows them to use their mobile OneCard with just a tap — without even needing to wake or unlock their device. If an iPhone needs a charge, students can still use their OneCard in Apple Wallet with Power Reserve.
The move from physical cards to a contactless OneCard on iPhone, Apple Watch, or Android phones allows for safe, convenient, and highly secure transactions. It helps students avoid touching the readers or handing their ID cards to someone else.
“With OneCard on my Wallet, I am never worried about losing my card or forgetting it at home! It is super convenient and easy to use.”
– Apurba Roy, fourth-year student at Toronto Metropolitan University.
OneCard on iPhone, Apple Watch, or Android phones is also protected by two-factor authentication to ensure only the student can access their account, even if someone else knows their password.
To set up their mobile school ID, students must download the eAccounts app, authenticate with their university credentials, and then add their OneCard to Apple Wallet or Google Pay. “This implementation marks a significant milestone in Toronto Metropolitan University’s efforts to drive innovation and leverage technology to the benefit of our students and staff. We look forward to embracing the positive impact mobile credentials will have on campus life.“
-Evan McCabe, Manager, Toronto Metropolitan University OneCard Office.
