The Creative School and Universidad Torcuato Di Tella, Argentina students bring creativity to the Metaverse
Students from The Creative School collaborated with Universidad Torcuato Di Tella for "Crafting in Metaverse," an immersive workshop exploring 3D modelling with VR. Co-led by Interior Design professor Jonathon Anderson, the workshop challenged students in Canada and Argentina to design objects for liquid preparation and service while navigating the complexities of ergonomics, culture, and materiality in a virtual space. Student Ernest Yeung explained how this unique setting added to the challenge. “I really enjoyed the real-time feedback and collaboration through VR,” Yeung expressed. “The software made it very intuitive to draw and work with; the process is like drawing sketches on paper together in person, except you’re in a 3D space, and your colleague is miles away.” The Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade, and Development Canada, Global Affairs Canada Grant provided funding for the collaborative exercise. “I had so much fun working on this project,” said student Brynn Hattle. “Collaborating in real-time with students from across the world was an amazing experience. It was exciting to see how they approached the design process and to be able to blend our cultures together into the final design.”
