Journalism alum Christian Allaire’s second book charts his path from reserve to runway
Journalism alum Christian Allaire is making waves in the literary and fashion worlds with the release of his second book, From the Rez to the Runway: Forging My Path in Fashion. (external link) Blending memoir and cultural commentary, Allaire reflects on his journey from growing up on the Nipissing First Nation reserve to carving out a space for Indigenous representation in the global fashion industry. The book, published by HarperCollins Canada, explores his early fascination with powwow regalia, the challenges of breaking into elite fashion circles, and the tension between ambition and identity.
As a Senior Fashion and Style Writer at Vogue, Allaire continues to advocate for diversity in fashion and champion Indigenous designers. His work exemplifies The Creative School’s interdisciplinary spirit, where storytelling, culture, and design intersect.
