June 20, 2023 (Toronto, ON) - The Creative School (opens in new window) , a dynamic faculty at Toronto Metropolitan University (opens in new window) , announced today the launch of the Lab of Excellence in Digital Asset Management (LED) (external link, opens in new window) . The first and only academic organization in the world focused on fostering in-depth research and education within the realm of Digital Asset Management, LED will provide practical and hands-on workshops on building, managing and adapting DAM across all industries.
"At the crossroads of knowledge and impact, LED would be the place to empower scholars, students, and professionals through research. It is a collaboration hub for advancing Digital Asset Management for Education and Research,” said Dr. El Asaleh. “Not only do we provide service for professional development but also, we foster a thriving community where we create waves of innovations in DAM.”
In the last decade, the Digital Asset Management (DAM) community has seen significant technological advancement at a rapid rate with changes and innovations expanding the scope of the digital experience. Amidst the COVID-19 global pandemic, many industries including museums, banking, higher education institutions, consumer goods and retail, manufacturing, healthcare, entertainment and more saw an increase in demand and adaptation of DAM. Filling these gaps to provide professional development and educational resources to serve the emerging DAM needs will be the primary objective of LED.
To showcase the work coming out of LED and continue the dialogue around Digital Asset Management, The Creative School will be hosting the third annual Canada DAM Symposium (external link, opens in new window) on June 22, 2023.
The goal of LED is to produce and disseminate research findings in various DAM technology areas through academic publication and broader public industry distribution with hopes to tackle and solve business challenges and investigate current trends.
LED will provide sought after professional development opportunities through interactive workshops delivered by industry experts for students, scholars, and DAM professionals to enhance or build knowledge on topics that are critical to appropriate DAM implementation and data optimization. In addition, LED will generate interdisciplinary research collaboration opportunities with research institutions and programs within Toronto Metropolitan University and professionals from the DAM industry.
