Professional Communication Professor, John Shiga, researches how dolphins became strategically important to the world’s navies during the Cold World period, which led to the establishment of the research facility, The Dolphin House. Shiga’s research examines a series of sound recordings from within The Dolphin House which sparked a new direction for the project resulting in the creation of the audio-visual installation The Dolphin House: A sonic remapping of the cold war. “ You can actually start to trace connections between what was happening in The Dolphin House and the Cold War politics happening around it, which enabled the project,” Shiga said.
