June 9, 2022 (Toronto, ON) - An exciting new partnership between The Creative School (opens in new window)  at Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson University) and Humber College (external link, opens in new window)  has made it possible for Humber students of over a dozen Ontario Graduate Certificate programs from the entrepreneurship, business, IT and design streams to transition to the Master of Digital Media (opens in new window)  (MDM) postgraduate university degree program offered by The Creative School.

Beginning in January 2023, students accepted into specific Ontario Graduate Certificate programs, including international students, will be eligible to transition into the one-year transdisciplinary MDM program. This graduate degree will prepare students for leadership roles in digital media by developing proficiencies in App creation, digital media strategy, gamification, augmented and virtual reality, physical computing, robotics, machine learning and more.

“Humber’s graduate certificate to Master of Digital Media pathway will allow students to take advantage of an executive program that is transdisciplinary and uniquely designed to equip graduates with the skills and industry experience that they will need to be thought leaders in the digital media world. This partnership represents a commitment to preparing the next generation of cultural industries change makers and innovators,” says Charles Falzon, Dean of The Creative School.

The Creative School’s Master of Digital Media is an intensive 12-month professional program built for digital media innovators. Participants of this program are immersed in a comprehensive study of business, art, design and technology intended to stimulate entrepreneurial and 21st-century leadership skills for real-world challenges. As the digital economy continues to grow, the future will belong to professionals with the ability to create solid business models that are innovative, disruptive and sustainable through digital media.

"I'm thankful to our TMU colleagues for recognizing the power of collaboration that will benefit both our students and our institutions. Humber’s career-focused and hands-on education model combined with the MDM program will help to prepare learners to be the innovators of tomorrow," says Gina Antonacci, Senior Vice-President, Academic, Humber College.

Humber’s Ontario Graduate Certificates accelerate career paths with specialized training that builds on previous diploma or degree experience. By expanding student networks and providing industry-relevant experience, Humber is providing practical skills and knowledge for graduates to take on a wide variety of leadership roles as creatives, innovators and entrepreneurs.

With both institutions located in Canada’s largest city, Toronto, Ontario, this two-year creative-business MA pathway provides an easy transition for students in Toronto looking to continue their studies. It is also a particularly advantageous pathway for international students who can complete both an Ontario Graduate Certificate and degree within two years as part of a two-year study permit.
