Maximum Exposure 27: The Time is Now celebrates the future of image-making
Maximum Exposure 27: The Time is Now (external link, opens in new window) (MX27), the year-end exhibition showcasing works by talented emerging artists in the School of Image Arts runs April 29 to May 7 this year, with a special opening night event on April 29th. The show will feature a curated selection of photography, installation, moving image and digital arts, as well as an accessible online exhibition. Works will be displayed throughout the iconic Image Arts building located at 122 Bond St. MX27 ‘The Time is Now’ will celebrate the future of image-making as envisioned by the next generation of lens-based artists and creative professionals.
Maximum Exposure is once again honoured to be included as part of the programming for this year’s Scotiabank CONTACT Photography Festival (external link, opens in new window) as part of Open Call Exhibitions in support of emerging and experienced photographers exhibiting across galleries and alternative spaces in Toronto.
Fourth-year IMA student Zongzhe Trevor Cai uses digital technologies in his photographic practice to explore deeply embedded cultural ideas, and calls for equality through storytelling and his ethereal dream narratives. Guests are invited into an enchanting dream world and encouraged to imagine a more egalitarian society through his work.
“Photography is the best medium for communicating humanistic principles,” shares Cai. “The platform provided by MaxEx allows me to express myself, and allows all photographers to express their own unique visions of the world.”
