EDC hours will be 10a.m. to 3p.m starting Dec 3rd 2024.
Best Practices
Here are some recommended guidelines for patrons to follow. These practices will hopefully help you make the most about your EDC experience and ensure all goes well.
EDC Emails
You will receive an email every time you use the EDC.
When you Reserve equipment or facilities
When you Pick up equipment/keys
When you return equipment/keys
If you do not receive an email, something has gone wrong and you should check back with the EDC immediately to avoid fines (opens in new window) .
Keeping Equipment Safe & Secure
Patrons are responsible for all items they checkout from the EDC. If an item is damaged, lost, or stolen while in your possession the cost to replace or repair is on you. To avoid these costs, patrons should:
- Treat all equipment and facilities with respect. Take care to treat them as the high quality resources they are
- Use resources only for their intended purposes
- Keep items with you at all times
- Do not store items in lockers or suites
- Do not leave items unattended at any time
Remember, patrons are liable if items are stolen while in the patron's possession. This includes if they are on TMU grounds when the theft occurs.
Locking Doors
Make sure you lock the doors when leaving a facility. Keep the keys on your person at all times. Do not leave them in a room unattended.
Do not hand them over to anyone claiming to be the next user. Return all keys to the EDC by the end of your checkout.
Remember this is a high traffic, high theft area. Do not leave your belongings in hallways or rooms unattended.
Use EDC Patron Portal When Possible
It is always best to use the Patron Portal (external link, opens in new window) when possible. You can use EDC Online to:
- Make Reservations (including repeating reservations)
- Change Reservations
- Mark favourite and often used resources for future use
- Cancel Reservations
Keep Track of Start & End Times
Always keep track of pick up and return times. While the EDC will send you many, many reminder emails it is up to you to know your allocation times.
It is important to remember your pickup time so the resources are there for you when you wanted them. Your reservation will cancel after 30 minutes, and then those resources will be available first come, first serve.
It is important to remember your return time to avoid a late fine (opens in new window) .
