Dr. Chris MacDonald

Director, Ted Rogers Leadership Centre

Dr. MacDonald is Director of the Centre and is responsible for the overall direction of the Centre's research and education programs. He is also a Nonresident Senior Scholar at Duke University’s Kenan Institute for Ethics (external link, opens in new window) . He received his B.A. (Hons.) from Trent University, and his M.A. and Ph.D. (in philosophy) from the University of British Columbia.

He is the author of more than 30 peer-reviewed publications, and is author of a best-selling textbook on critical thinking (external link)  as well as a textbook on business ethics (external link, opens in new window) . MacDonald is also author of the highly-regarded Business Ethics Blog (businessethicsblog.com (external link) ), and founding co-editor of the Business Ethics Journal Review (external link)  and the news aggregator Business Ethics Highlights (external link) . He is President of the nonprofit Journal Review Foundation (external link) , and co-editor of the new Concise Encyclopedia of Business Ethics (external link) .

Dr. MacDonald's research is currently focused on the ethical challenges faced by 'early-career' employees, vigilante justice in social media, and the ethical obligations implied by the information-processing function of corporate boards.

Dr. MacDonald has been named as one of the “100 Most Influential People in Business Ethics,” for each of the past four years by Ethisphere Magazine, in addition to being named as one of the “Top 100 Thought Leaders in Trustworthy Business Behaviour” by Trust Across America in 2011, 2012, and 2013.
