Inaugural recipients of Yardi Systems Graduate Award in Real Estate announced

Ted Rogers School of Management PhD students Sedat Ogeturk and Meet Shah have been named the first recipients of the Yardi Systems Graduate Award in Real Estate.
In 2024, Yardi Systems partnered with the Ted Rogers School and committed $90,000 to support graduate students in the Real Estate Management program. As award winners, PhD in Management students Ogeturk and Shah will each receive $15,000.
Ogeturk’s research embarks on a comprehensive exploration of Canadian Real Estate Investment Trusts (C-REIT), focusing on their operational efficiency, tax benefits and redevelopment strategies. His research aims to clarify how well these companies operate, if their tax breaks are justified and why they redevelop properties.
Shah’s research addresses the housing supply crisis in Canada. He primarily focuses on supply-side dynamics, investigating the structural and policy-related constraints that are influencing housing development across the country. Through empirical analysis, Shah explores how these barriers can be addressed to ease the growing housing affordability crisis.
