Ted Rogers School partners with Sandals Corporate University to expand opportunities

The Ted Rogers School of Management has signed a partnership with Sandals Corporate University in Jamaica which will expand opportunities for students and faculty in hospitality, tourism and business education.
Through this five-year Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Sandals Corporate University (SCU), both institutions will facilitate internships and placements at Sandals Resorts while developing specialized executive training programs to further enhance team members’ skills and expertise.
SCU is Sandals Resorts’ regional adult education program that certifies staff members without formal academic qualifications and provides qualified team members with an avenue to advance their education.
“I am tremendously proud of our partnership with SCU because it will offer many new and exciting opportunities to Ted Rogers School students and faculty, such as co-op placements, executive education engagement and potential academic partnerships,” says Cynthia Holmes, Dean, Ted Rogers School.
“It also strengthens our school’s commitment to provide innovative and experiential education, and opportunities for transnational partnership initiatives,” she adds.
New projects for this collaboration are currently being developed and include courses on topics such as digital innovation, strategic communication, mindfulness in leadership, and big data in strategic decision-making. These initiatives are set to launch later this year.
Dean Holmes, Dr. Roberta Iannacito-Provenzano (Provost and Vice-President, Academic, TMU) and Donette Chin-Loy Chang (Chancellor, TMU) visited Sandals Montego Bay to sign the MOU on March 7, 2025, and had the chance to see Sandals’ operations first-hand, including the resort’s annual Prestige Awards, which honour outstanding team members.
The General Manager at Sandals Montego Bay, Christopher Elliott, is also a Ted Rogers School HTM alumnus (’94).
