2024 Top 40 Better World MBA Ranking

The Ted Rogers MBA has been ranked sixth in the world among large business schools by the Corporate Knights 2024 Better World Ranking (external link, opens in new window) . The annual ranking reflects the strong demand for sustainability in core courses in MBA programs across the world.

Corporate Knights defines a large school as an MBA program with over 80 graduates a year. The Ted Rogers MBA program also placed 17th globally overall and fourth in Canada in the rankings. This placement is an improvement from last year when the Ted Rogers MBA program ranked 20th in the world overall and 5th in Canada.

“Sustainability is a growing concern, and thanks to our hardworking faculty and staff, we are integrating sustainability education into our curriculum today to help create ethical business leaders for tomorrow,” says Dr. Laleh Samarbakhsh, Graduate Program Director, MBA.

The Better World MBA Ranking, first conducted in 2010, previously evaluated the top full-time MBA programs in the world, diversity of faculty and proportion of its research devoted to sustainability issues. Since 2023, the ranking solely considers what is being taught.

This year’s ranking methodology includes one main metric: the proportion of core (mandatory) courses from each MBA program that integrate relevant sustainable development themes. There are more than 350 sustainability themes integrated into core courses, including accounting for stranded high-carbon assets, biodiversity,  Indigenous partnership models, preventing child labour in supply chains, corruption reduction and employment equity.

There is also a bonus metric (weighted at 10%) that is based on the percentage of recent graduates who have landed in impact organizations – defined as non-profits, Corporate Knights Global 100 or Clean 200 companies, and any company deriving most of its revenue from sustainable activities.

“I am so proud of the continued success of our MBA program when it comes to sustainability,” said Dr. Cynthia Holmes, Dean of the Ted Rogers School of Management. “To be among the top MBA programs in the world in the Corporate Knights ranking is a tremendous achievement.”

This year’s top 40 MBA programs span 14 countries – with 12 U.K., six Canadian and six U.S. programs making the list.
