EDIA Report 2022-2023  (opens in new window)

The Ted Rogers School of Management works meaningfully to embody the values of equity, diversity, inclusion and accessibility (EDIA), and is proud to share what we have accomplished over the 2022-2023 academic year in our inaugural EDIA Report

This report, which was prepared and organized by Ted Rogers School’s Office of the Associate Dean of Engagement and Inclusion, reflects our school’s overall commitment to be a place where all community members feel a deep sense of belonging.

“I am immensely proud of the launch of Ted Rogers School’s first EDIA Report because it demonstrates our commitment towards establishing a fully inclusive environment for all members of our school community,” explains Cynthia Holmes, Dean, Ted Rogers School.

“As you will see, EDIA is embedded in every area of the school – from teaching and learning to research and administration – and it reflects our deep community connection," she says.

“I would like to thank Seung Hwan (Mark) Lee (Associate Dean of Engagement and Inclusion) and Sana Mulji (Senior Advisor, External Relations and Inclusion) for their leadership on this initiative, and the team involved with putting it together,” Holmes adds.

Highlights

"Our report strongly demonstrates Ted Rogers School’s commitment to EDIA values via the C.A.R.E. framework: Celebrate, Advocate, Reciprocate and Educate,” says Lee. “Through examples from the 2022-23 academic year, we highlight our community's efforts to foster inclusivity on campus, showcasing the strength of our diversity."

The 2022-23 EDIA Report captures the range of initiatives that Ted Rogers School students, faculty, staff and alumni have spearheaded in all areas of the school, such as training programs, curriculum updates, research projects, and awards and scholarships. Here are some highlights:

  • 335 Awards and Scholarships supporting Black, Indigenous, racialized and 2SLGBTQ+ students were distributed amounting to $2.4 million
  • Ted Rogers Students’ Society’s (TRSS) equitable student groups included: Black Business Graduate Students’ Association (BBGSA), Black Business Students’ Association (BBSA), Ted Rogers Pride Alliance, Ted Rogers MBA Women in Leadership Association, Women in Information Technology Management and the Women in Leadership TMU
  • TRSS EDI committee initiated the award-winning EDI Well-Being Space
  • Indigenous initiatives included the Birchbark Canoe display, and the concept design for the Indigenous Healing Garden project
  • 10+ courses that feature Indigenous content were offered within the Retail Management, Law and Business, Hospitality and Tourism Management, and Entrepreneurship curriculum

Objectives

“The EDIA report both serves to celebrate the tangible efforts made by Ted Rogers School community members in advancing EDIA in all aspects of the school, and to champion initiatives that reflect our school’s commitment to implementing anti-racist and decolonial principles across all areas,” says Mulji.

It demonstrates Ted Rogers School’s advancement and ongoing efforts towards fulfilling the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Call to Action #92 (external link, opens in new window)  by committing to meaningful partnerships with Indigenous communities for economic development, and our ongoing response to fulfilling the recommendations in the Standing Strong (Mash Koh Wee Kah Pooh Win) Task Force Report and Recommendations. The report is also part of a new Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Accessibility (EDIA) website at the Ted Rogers School, which features EDIA resources and initiatives.

“We hope that people reading the report see that there are continued opportunities to connect with others and feel a sense of belonging at the university,” says Mulji. “We also hope it encourages or inspires others to participate in or start a new inclusive initiative.” Preliminary work for the 2023-24 EDIA report is underway.
