Achieving tenure is a tremendous accomplishment in the life of an academic. Congratulations to Ted Rogers School of Management professors Dr. Irfan Butt, Dr. Karen Peesker, Dr. Vik Singh and Dr. Yanfei Sun for recently achieving tenure at the school. 

Meet our newest tenured faculty members: 

Dr. Irfan Butt
Associate Professor, Marketing Management

Dr. Butt’s research interests include consumer behavior and technology in marketing. He has published in top tier journals such as Journal of Business Research, International Journal of Bank Marketing, Journal of Consumer Marketing, International Journal of Contemporary & Hospitality Management, Journal of Travel and Tourism Marketing, International Journal of Operations & Production Management, Energy Economics and Journal of Economic Survey. He has received several best papers, research and teaching awards in his career. Dr. Butt is frequently invited to speak about systematic literature review methodology. He also teaches a graduate course he has developed on this method.

Dr. Karen Peesker
Associate Professor, Hospitality & Tourism Management; Director of the Sales Leadership Program

Dr. Peesker is a motivating professor who infuses her extensive sales and marketing experience into every course. She uses an engaging, interactive and coaching approach with a blend of real-world experience and leading-edge research to excel in the classroom and teach effectively. Her scholarly work has been published in top-tier journals such as the Journal of Business Research, Journal of Personal Selling & Sales Management, Journal of Business & Industrial Marketing and Journal of Marketing Education. Dr. Peesker also received the TRSM Outstanding Research Recognition Award in 2023 and Toronto Metropolitan University’s Provost's Experiential Teaching Award in 2022, and was a 2022 winner of Canada’s Most Powerful Women Top 100 award in the Professionals category.

Dr. Vik Singh
Associate Professor, Global Management Studies

Dr. Singh's research is centered on the pivotal role of culture in shaping global connections and addressing the mounting geopolitical risks impacting Asia and Latin America. Additionally, he investigates how ethnicity influences global housing purchase decisions and SMEs, and the linkages between board diversity, tenure and ESG performance. Engaged in numerous global collaborations, Dr. Singh is currently participating in projects alongside researchers from Australia, Spain and Poland. His scholarly contributions have been featured in several peer-reviewed journals, including the Journal of Policy Modelling, Applied Economics and International Journal of Cross Cultural Management.

Dr. Yanfei Sun
Associate Professor, Finance

Dr. Sun earned her Ph.D. in Finance from Auburn University in 2019, specializing in financial markets and institutions, regulation on financial institutions and international finance. Her scholarly work has been published in top tier journals such as the Journal of Financial Stability, Critical Finance Review, Global Finance Journal, American Business Review and Journal of Consumer Affairs. She also received the TRSM Teaching Innovation Award in 2023, TRSM Research Recognition Award in 2020 and recognition as an Outstanding Reviewer in the 2020 Emerald Literati Awards.
