The Ted Rogers MBA has been ranked in the top 20 globally and top five in Canada by the Corporate Knights 2023 Better World Ranking. The annual rankings reflect the demand for and integration of sustainability in core MBA courses and faculty research.

“We take great pride in helping prepare future business leaders who are dedicated to creating a more equitable and sustainable business world,” said Dr. Chris MacDonald, graduate program director, MBA. “This recognition validates the hard work of our team and the success of our students and alumni.”

The Better World MBA Ranking, first conducted in 2010, previously evaluated the top full-time MBA programs in the world, diversity of faculty and proportion of its research devoted to sustainability issues, whereas this year’s ranking considers what is being taught (external link)

This year, programs were evaluated on one key metric: the proportion of core courses from each MBA program that integrate relevant sustainable development themes (100%). All core content relating to environmental, social and governance performance – with topics ranging from biodiversity to carbon pricing, Indigenous consultation, child labour, corruption reduction and employment equity – was credited. A bonus Alumni Impact KPI measured the percent of recent (2021-2022) MBA alumni working for impact organizations, weighted at 10 per cent.

Prior to 2023, schools were ranked on seven metrics, including core course integration of sustainability, research publications, sustainability-focused research institutes and centres, faculty gender and racial diversity among others.

“The Ted Rogers MBA has been built on fundamental values of equity, diversity and sustainability, so the result of this ranking is meaningful to our faculty members, our students and our alumni. Congratulations to everyone who helped us achieve this success,” said Dr. Cynthia Holmes, dean of the Ted Rogers School of Management.

This year’s top 40 MBA programs span 13 countries – with seven Canadian, 12 U.K. and six U.S. programs making the list.
