HTM students win big at Genio Worldwide Innovation Summit

Congratulations to Ted Rogers Hospitality and Tourism Management students Annie Bird and Jasmine Burji for winning two awards at the Genio Worldwide Innovation Summit in Amsterdam on November 21, 2019.

The summit, hosted by Hotelschool The Hague, brings together students from 16 of the best hotel schools in the world and current leaders in the hospitality industry.  It includes a student challenge where students present a case study to a prominent jury consisting of top CEOs and Vice Presidents from the hospitality industry.

This year’s case study, which students had two months to prepare for, was on sustainability concepts for a climate positive hotel.  Bird and Burji won awards for Best Concept and Best Presentation.

“Representing the Ted Rogers School of Hospitality and Tourism Management at the Genio Worldwide Innovation Summit was truly one of the best learning experiences I’ve had at TRSM,” says Burji. “My partner Annie and I were able to learn about environmental sustainability on a deeper, practical level, which is something that we are both very passionate about.”

“The opportunity to meet students and industry from around the world has given us a new perspective about how to combat climate change,” Burji adds. “I am so grateful to be a student at TRSM where personal development and international experience are a priority.”
