The Law and Business Clinic was a pivotal experience in my undergraduate career. Not only did the course offer a hands-on perspective of legal concepts, traditionally taught in our usual legal classes, but students were able to develop various transferable skills that shape them into forward-thinking professionals. Throughout the year, I have seen a drastic improvement in my self-regulation, initiative, critical thinking, and communication skills, purely from the relationships built with my team, the supervising lawyers, and Professor Alon-Shenker. This year, I was able to oversee multiple deliverables that are commonly found in new-venture legal processes, including the preparation of organizational documents, shareholder equity agreements, legal memorandums, and formalized letters to the client.  

Beyond just the tasks at hand, students in the Clinic quickly realize that their impact goes beyond the realms of the classroom, but they positively contribute to the university’s entrepreneurial spirit. It is an incredible feeling to be a part of this change, knowing that with each deliverable completed, your work is going towards making an individual’s dreams a reality. 

The Clinic’s leadership, through its faculty and supervising lawyers, was unparalleled to any course I have taken in the past, as enhancing student experience and the Clinic’s value was notably a top priority throughout the year. It is because of my experience in the Clinic alone that has shaped the post-graduate institutions that I plan to attend, as I will ensure that I am exposed to the same progressive views of fostering innovation and being a part of the big picture. 

Regardless of whether the law school route is the choice for you, I highly recommend all students to take advantage of the Law and Business Clinic and the opportunities it has to offer.
