Nasreen Khatri

Dr. Nasreen Khatri is an award-winning registered clinical psychologist, gerontologist, neuroscientist and educator with 20 years of professional experience. A graduate of McGill University, from 2001 - 2004 Dr. Khatri completed her clinical internship and CIHR-funded post-doctorate at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH). 

From 2004 to 2012, she led the Mood and Related Disorders Clinic and founded the Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) service at Baycrest, a global leader in aging and brain health. In 2012, Dr. Khatri joined The Rotman Research Institute, a cognitive neuroscience institute fully affiliated with The University of Toronto, where she studies how depression impacts the aging brain, the neural link between depression and dementia across the adult lifespan and innovates and tailors digital, scalable self-management treatments for depression and anxiety, such as cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT), Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction (MBSR) and exercise. 

She is a Scientific Officer of the Centre for Aging and Brain Health Innovation (CABHI) at Baycrest. Dr. Khatri’s research has been funded continuously since 2006 and has been published in peer-reviewed academic journals and book chapters.

Dr. Khatri has completed over 500 presentations, serves a mental health advisor (Bell Let’s Talk, Girls E-Mentorship and the Women's Brain Health Initiative) and has been cited by CBC - The National, CTV, BNN, The Globe and Mail, The National Post, The Toronto Star, The Wall Street Journal (US) and dozens of other media outlets. 

Currently, Dr. Khatri serves as Co-chair of the McGill Women, Leadership and Philanthropy (WLP) Board. In addition, Dr. Khatri consults as a subject matter expert and advises internationally to banks and business schools.

Dr. Khatri received the 2016 Government of Ontario Leading Women, Building Communities Award for "the enormous impact of her work" as a psychologist and gerontologist at Baycrest. In 2023, she joined the Women's Brain Project, an international non-profit organization studying sex and gender determinants of brain and mental health based in Zurich, Switzerland.
