Indigenous Advisor

In 2019, the Ted Rogers School of Management hired Michael Mihalicz as an Indigenous Advisor. In this role, Mihalicz is tasked with supporting reconciliation priorities for the Ted Rogers School and leading the development of protocols and processes that will increase access to postsecondary education for Inuit, Métis and First Nations students.

In addition to his role as Indigenous Advisor, Mihalicz is a PhD student at the University of Glasgow, and an Assistant Professor in the Ted Rogers School’s Entrepreneurship & Strategy Department. His research combines principles from Psychology and Economics to help people make better decisions.

Mihalicz is currently involved in research to better understand and describe the present state of Indigenous engagement in research-based career paths in Canada, and developing a theory-driven understanding of non-financial factors influencing decisions to pursue post-secondary education. With a more descriptive understanding of the barriers, enablers and motivations of Indigenous students and student researchers, we will be better able to inform policies and practices that will encourage more youth to pursue paths that will increase their long-term likelihood of success and the success of their communities.
