Students Advocating for Students
The Ted Rogers Student Society (TRSS) (external link, opens in new window) is deeply committed to supporting, advocating and educating students about equity, diversity and inclusion. Under its umbrella are two committees, the EDI committee and the TRSS Cares committee, that work to create an equitable, diverse and inclusive community at the Ted Rogers School of Management and promote socially responsible events.
The TRSS EDI committee, for example, was instrumental in the establishment of the EDI Well-Being Space on campus, for which it won a Canadian Association of Business Students (CABS) award in 2023.
Also under the TRSS umbrella is the TRSS Cares committee, which is responsible for organizing charitable initiatives such as the annual event, CAMH: One Brave Night. In 2022, the event highlighted self-care, mental health and wellness. The committee’s purpose is to stimulate authentic discussions surrounding mental health and raise funds for the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH).

Black Business Graduate Student Association
The Black Business Graduate Student Association (BBGSA) (external link, opens in new window) works to provide mentorship and social networking for students. They help businesses find qualified diverse talent and offer panels, workshops and volunteer opportunities to learn about ourselves and our world. BBGSA recognizes that talent comes in all colours. And they make the connections that help talented people reach their potential.
Black Business Students’ Association
The Black Business Students’ Association (BBSA) (external link, opens in new window) is an award-winning student group of Black youth seeking to empower, educate and elevate the Black community and allies. The team, which has Black leaders from several different programs, even outside of the Ted Rogers School, recognizes the importance of community and a sense of belonging and aims to ensure all students can access professional and educational resources as well as social and academic development events.
Ted Rogers MBA Women in Leadership Association
The Women in Leadership Association (WiLA) (external link, opens in new window) is comprised of MBA students from different disciplines with one common objective: to support women in the Ted Rogers MBA program with their vision for greatness.This student group aims to instill confidence in women to be able to break through barriers and to educate our community to blur gender lines and look at the capabilities and experiences of the individual.
Ted Rogers Pride Alliance
The Ted Rogers Pride Alliance (TRPA) (external link, opens in new window) is a 2SLGBTQIA+ student group whose mission is to foster an environment where all students feel welcomed, respected, accepted and included for who they are. The student group hosts thought-provoking discussions, advocacy events, social events and collaborations with other 2SLGBTQ+ organizations throughout the year. In 2023, they are working to host events to celebrate the diversity of their community by reflecting on the much deeper meaning of being queer and paying respect to 2Spirited, Black and POC communities.
Women in Information Technology Management
Established in 2007, the Women in Information Technology Management (WITM) (external link, opens in new window) student group raises awareness of the striking gender gap that exists in the Business Technology Management (BTM) program, the IT industry and corporate culture. Created to promote diversity and inclusion through organizing academic, professional and social events, the WITM team fosters a supportive environment to encourage more women to pursue careers in IT management and contribute to closing the gender gap in the industry.
Women in Leadership TMU
Women in Leadership TMU (WILTMU) (external link, opens in new window) is a non-profit student organization that focuses on mentoring female professionals and bridging the gap between the industry, alumni and the student community. WILTMU connects students with industry professionals and provides support through education, mentorship, and networking. WILTMU aims to successfully build an environment at Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) that supports the advancement of women and gender equality, to develop the foundation for successful student leaders.
