The Practicalities of Quantum-Safe Migration

Organizations throughout the world will have to migrate their technological systems to quantum-safe technology in the coming years to mitigate the threat of quantum computing. Suggested preparation includes discovering and inventorying an organization’s cryptography, conducting a formal risk assessment, socializing, and allocating budget. However, these actions are not well-defined and have practical issues which need to be addressed in order to make them happen. This talk will give an overview of the threat of quantum computing and then do a deeper dive into many of the practicalities which will arise in the course of preparation and migration.

About the speaker:

Dr. Kenneth Giuliani received his PhD in cryptography from the University of Waterloo and has worked as a cryptographic consultant for in the Canadian banking industry for more than a decade. He specializes in cryptography, key management, and data security and is now part of the Cybersecurity Innovation team at CIBC focusing on innovative topics such as quantum computing.
