Industry Prep Program

At the Ted Rogers School of Management, Student Learning & Success is a core priority in our  (PDF file) 2025–2030 Strategic Plan (opens in new window) . To ensure that all students have meaningful opportunities to gain work-related experience, this experiential learning program is designed to bridge the gap between classroom learning and the professional world.

This program features a series of interactive, industry-relevant workshops co-developed and delivered by Ted Rogers Alumni and industry experts, empowering students to build practical skills, expand their networks, and prepare for successful careers.

Career Design Badge

This badge is awarded to individuals who have attended a Career Discovery workshop, designed to raise awareness of unique strengths, career options and proven strategies towards achieving career success.

Requirements:

  1. Attend a Career Discovery workshop
  2. Schedule a meeting with a Career Coordinator to issue your badge!
Power Skills Badge

This badge is awarded to individuals who have developed on five professional skills, through workshops co-developed by industry experts and Ted Rogers Alumni:

  • Business Writing - Emails
  • Effective Presentations
  • Wellbeing
  • Personal Branding
  • Business Etiquette

Requirements:

  1. Attend all five Power Skills workshops
  2. Schedule a meeting with a Career Coordinator to issue your badge!
Sector Exploration Badge

This badge is awarded to individuals who have explored a new sector by attending a Sector Prep Program.

Requirements:

  1. Attend three sessions of the same Sector Prep Program
  2. Schedule a meeting with a Career Coordinator to issue your badge!
Industry Ready Badge

This badge is awarded to individuals who have completed all levels of the Industry Prep Program. These individuals have explored career pathways, learned about unique strengths and professional skills and applied them through extra-curricular experiential learning activities, demonstrating commitment towards their own career success.

Requirements:

  • Obtain the Career Discovery badge
  • Obtain the Power Skills badge
  • Obtain at least two Bootcamp badges
  • Obtain at least one Sector Exploration badge
  • Attend at least one Experience Building event
  • Schedule a meeting with a Career Coordinator to issue your badge!

Meet our Team of Alumni Facilitators

Featuring our Ted Rogers Alumni who co-created, developed and deliver our Skills Development Workshops

Alizeh Ali

Alizeh is a Business Technology Management '17 alumni. She leads our Professional Etiquette Skills Development Workshop engaging students in learning how to successfully navigate the workplace. Now working with Mattamy Homes she uses her experience to support students in building a strong foundation to be successful in understanding the unwritten rules of the professional environment. 

Sumaiya Javed

Sumaiya is a Business Technology Management '22 Co-op alumni. Sumaiya currently works as a Senior Business Information Management Analyst at TD. Drawing from her corporate experience, she leads our Business Writing Skills Development Workshop, emphasizing the importance of clear, professional email communication. She helps students understand how strong written communication skills can set them apart in today’s workplace.

Marco Balazar

Marco is a Marketing Management '19 alumni who brings real world experience and enthusiasm to our Wellbeing Skills Development Workshop. A Senior Partner Solution Sales Manager at Microsoft, he helps students build resilience and prioritize balance to perform at their best, both academically and professionally.

Mikayla Zvonar

Mikayla is a Global Management and Marketing Management '20 alumni. Her role as a Sr. Manager, Client Leadership at Candybox Marketing allows her to regularly lead crucial meetings and deliver impactful presentations. Mikayla is dedicated to helping students with their professional development having walked in their shoes herself. 

Fares El Dweiri

Fares is a Marketing Management '20 alumni, leading our Personal Branding Skills Development Workshop with energy and insight.

Now an SMB Account Executive at Shopify, he helps students push past their comfort zones and develop the confidence to network like a pro.
