Bitcoin Mining for a purpose!
Many of us feel the effects of increasingly high inflation, rising geo-political tensions, and the latest, an increasing energy bill, from 170% in the EU, 54% in the UK, to somewhere between 30% - 300% in some parts of Canada. Historically, there are ~200 remote communities locally that have been dealing with similar issues for the past 10 - 30 years. With the emergence of Web 3.0 and its associated technologies, we have the potential for significant change and decentralization could play a vital role in developing a robust energy system.
The 21st century will undoubtedly usher in the era of the digital economy, with Web 3.0 playing a pivotal role in the underlying infrastructure. This gradual shift to digitization will lay the foundations for the next generation of “smart grid systems”, and all of it is being undertaken now. We have the opportunity to design the next evolution for our society's key instruments from Payments, the Internet, to Energy. We have a chance to adopt inclusion as a founding principle, not a tag-on.
Our goal at Lighthouse Energy is to empower these communities towards a shared vision of energy independence. Our means to do so entails artificially supplementing energy demand by leveraging, renewable and sustainable bitcoin mining practices, with a broader goal of expanding local clean energy systems through targeted investments and sound financing opportunities.
We are in the initial stages and are actively exploring the synergy between cryptocurrencies, energy, carbon reduction, and social opportunities. Towards that end, we have plans to launch an MVP within the next year and are planning to invite students for a chance to learn more about Web 3.0.
