Autism is considered a disability, but it shouldn’t be. According to a census survey, 66% of individuals with ASD are unemployed. This is in comparison to 4-6% of neurotypical, capable adults. Unemployment is also linked with a series of mental health factors, and even quality of life. Millions of people around the world are at a disadvantage, simply because of the way they are born. This shouldn’t be the case.

At Dream Counsellor our goal is to take action from modern research in ASD; tackle barriers to unemployment and provide facilitators. Research shows the main 3 groups of facilitators for employment within this group are Job Search Support, Soft-skill Enhancement and Job Fit. These are the services we will provide. Our platform will give its users a holistic solution. We will use surveys and data collection in order to train our machine learning algorithm and personalize the features for each person. The features are the following:

  1. Career Exploration: Using the individual's intrinsic features (strengths, weaknesses, personality, etc.) we will identify careers they are best suited for. And highlight strengths and weaknesses for each carrier.
  2. Job Search/Recruitment: We will source and directly recruit individuals for specific roles, and provide a user friendly platform where they can apply to positions themselves.
  3. Expert Guidance: We will connect individuals with experts in vocational therapy, with our several partships with organization.
  4. Vocational Training: We will have vocational training modules directly on our app, and suggest the user recommendations. This may also be used by the expert, who can provide the user with a curated lesson plan.
  5. Current Job Support: Lastly we will provide the user with support for their current job. This will be a resource and performance report hub. We are still in the research and development phase, but our goal is to have a widespread impact over the ASD Community in Toronto and canada.
